The Ear and How We Hear

Here is another fun Human Anatomy lesson on the ear and how we hear.   After reading several books or chapters in books, on the topic, the kids played a game in identifying the Anatomy of the Outer, Middle and Inner ear.

We built a model of the eardrum and completed an experiment to simulate the timpanic membrane while demonstrating how sound travels inside the ear.

All you need for this experiment is rice (or any other grain), a large bowl, plastic wrap, a cookie sheet and a wooden spoon.  You can download the free worksheets with instructions here.
